๐Ÿ‘ปMortal Echoes

A guide to the server's unique death and item recovery system.

What is a Mortal Echo?

When you die on Vista Valley, your items and experience points are not dropped on the ground. Instead, they are safely stored in a Mortal Echo, a swirling wisp of your soul's energy that appears at your death location.

To collect your belongings, simply walk through the particle effect. There's no need to right-click or break anything. This system is designed to protect your hard-earned gear from despawning or being easily stolen, while still creating a challenge to recover it.

How It Works: The Timer

Every Mortal Echo has a limited lifespan, broken into two phases. You must retrieve your echo before it bursts!

  • Stable Phase (4 minutes)

    • For the first four minutes, your Mortal Echo is safe and stable. It will gently float, waiting for you to return.

  • Unstable Phase (1 minute)

    • After four minutes, the echo will become unstable. You will see warning animations and hear sounds indicating that it is about to collapse. This is your final chance to retrieve it.

  • The Burst

    • If the timer runs out, the Mortal Echo will permanently fade. All of your items and a portion of your stored experience points will be lost forever.

Key Features

  • You recover 75% of your stored experience upon retrieving your own Mortal Echo.

  • You can have a maximum of 3 Mortal Echoes active at one time. If you die a fourth time, your oldest echo will immediately vanish.

  • A faint particle trail can sometimes be seen in the air, guiding you back in the direction of your lost echo.

The Lore Behind the Echo

Ever wonder why your soul lingers as an Echo?

In the world of Vista Valley, a person's will and memories are strong enough to leave a temporary imprint, a Mortal Echo, on the fabric of reality upon death.

This phenomenon is a faint whisper of a much greater, more permanent power seen in the server's endgame. The sorrowful Echoes of the Void that haunt The End of Gaia are born of the same principle, but are the result of an entire universe's death. Your own fleeting echoes are a prelude to understanding the deeper, more dangerous cosmic mysteries that await.
